Man arrested after stolen vehicle recovered in 15 minutes

A man has been arrested after a car taken from a driveway in Sawbridgeworth was recovered within 15 minutes of it being taken.

Police were called shortly after 2.20am yesterday (Tuesday 23 June) following reports that a silver Mercedes Benz GLC had been stolen from outside an address on Parkway. It is alleged that a man used specialist equipment to gain entry to the vehicle before driving it away.

A coordinated response was launched involving officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary and Essex Police. The vehicle was quickly located by Essex officers on Gilden Way in Gilden.

A 30-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped to steal. He has been released on police bail while enquiries are continuing.
